As a cloth diapering dad, it is a challenge for me to get up on all of the cloth diapering lingo. It is almost as bad as kids and their super secret texting language. This is nothing new for us men, we have known for a long time that our wives can be a mystery. I think it’s ok for them to have their own secret diapering language…after all we have ours (although it doesn’t center around diapering). The further I get into the cloth diapering underworld the more I find out I don’t know. It gives me a new appreciation for how complex using a Bummis super whisper wrap can be. At least I can go to my wife when I have questions about how to use Bummis diaper covers…who the heck did she learn this stuff from? I think they are born with this knowledge preprogrammed into their mom brains.

In my quest to increase my knowledge about cloth diapering, so that I can be of some use to my wife in this area, I once again dove headlong into the seedy cloth diapering scene to try and get a little more information on the Bummis super whisper wrap I wrote about last time, and the Bummis Super Brite, both of which are Bummis diaper covers. Let me tell you this dads…while there are many forums out there that deal with cloth diapering, I don’t recommend spending a whole lot of time there. Don’t get me wrong, the moms are very knowledgeable, and eager to help, but it just doesn’t feel right. Kind of like walking into a mom’s night out meeting, pulling up a quilt and sitting down with the girls to discuss you travails. It’s just not natural.

As a result of my labor, and a good deal of pleading with my wife, I managed to find a site called DiaperPin. It provides excellent reviews and information on the myriad of diapers (Fuzzi Bunz, bumGenius, Bummis, Bumkins, and the list goes on) available to you as a diapering dad, and you don’t even have to delve into the forums to get the information you are looking for. The site provided very favorable reviews of the Bummis super whisper wrap and the Bummis brite diaper covers. By and large the majority of the reviews were very favorable, and the moms seemed to like the Bummis diaper covers. You should stop in over there and take a look at what they are saying. Now I just have to see what kind of information I can find about Bummis whisper pants.

Check back later and I will provide more insight for all of you dads joining me in this cloth diaper adventure. Until then keep your chin up…and you nose plugged .

Ok, I promised another post, and now that Christmas has past, I have a couple of minutes to sit down and talk about another major innovation in the cloth diaper sphere that will make your life easier dad…the Bummis super whisper wrap. I know…it sounds impressive, and it is. The nice thing about saying the name is it actually sounds masculine. As a dad, you can be comfortable talking about the fact that your child is wearing the Bummis super whisper wrap (ok, I may be reaching, but as a dad I will take whatever I can get on this journey).

Down to business, what is the Bummis super whisper wrap? It is really just a diaper cover that has a pretty cool name. This diaper cover acts in a similar manner to other diaper covers that you may be familiar with, but it boasts a leak proof closure system, and it is supposed to fit over any standard flat cloth diaper. The Bummis super whisper wrap uses Aplix as fasteners and provides ample elastic around the legs to ensure that baby stays dry, and dad stays happy. Another bonus feature that the Bummis whisper wrap offers is that due to the design of the Aplix tabs, the Bummis wrap will fit on almost any baby. If you are like my home, I always have at least two in diapers…versatility is a must. The Bummis super whisper wrap also comes in four different prints (I know dads, we care about function…but looks can be important to moms). This Bummis cover may present you with cloth diapering choices you do not currently have. I hope you are able to get some use out of this Bummis wrap.

Now let me begin by saying that the child I have used the Bummis diapers on is one of my babies. On him they work very well and are incredibly easy to secure. For those of you with infants you will certainly be able to appreciate the importance of having a diaper that fits well and goes on easily and quickly. One of the design features I liked about the Bummis Diapers is that the Velcro has over-sized tabs which make it very similar to fastening one of the disposable diapers I had become accustomed to before I knew better. One of the things to remember though is that your Bummis may need a Bummis diaper cover. In the event this is the case you can buy a new diaper cover, or you may be able to find a used diaper cover on ebay or diaperswappers.
